Upon graduation, Vern has served the Lord in Churches in Maryland, North Carolina, and Florida. He has been married to his high school sweet heart, Lou, since 1967. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Vern has been the Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church since 1994.
It 's our dream at Liberty
that we all:
What is the advantage of being an Independent Church?
1. It allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to Christ.
2. It allows us to prayerfully choose the missionaries and the institutions that we believe God would have our support with our prayers and financial support. In cooperation with other Bible-believing churches of like faith and practice.
Liberty is an Independent Baptist Church that fellowships with every New Testament church, regardless of affiliation, if they believe the Bible and loves the Lord Jesus Christ.
An Independent Church is free from all denominational controls or hierarchy. For example, we are self-governed; the congregation chooses its own pastor, the church owns its own buildings and assets, and the church determines its own programs.
Damian accepted the Lord at the age of 11 at one of Liberty's VBS weeks. He and his wife, Chelsea, met at Liberty as little children and eventually got married in 2014. In that same year, Damian strongly felt God calling him into ministry. He decided to attend Word of Life Bible Institute shortly after their wedding and is now continuing his education at Belhaven University. His passion for the local church is clearly seen in his work ethic and willingness to learn and serve.
